Evening All,

Next car decision time. Moving the M6 Gran Coupe on and considering a premium 4x4.

Opinions / ideas much appreciated.

1) 2020 Defender 110 HSE with decent spec

versus

2) 2020 RR Vogue

Parking not and issue. True 4x4 driving less than 1% of the year.

Town or country living?

Seeing a lot of new Defenders around rural Aberdeenshire and they seem to fit into the surroundings well. Probably better chance of getting a decent deal on Vogues though; I gather there is a waiting list still for Defenders so no deals? Might be outdated on that.

I know some like to use the label Vogue to delineate the full size Range Rover as opposed to the Sport, but the RR Vogue is just a trim level and at that place in the market you want an Autobiography at least.
The Vogue is really the entry level these days.

Dacia Sandero should suffice.

Go for a slightly older but still facelifted Autobiography

When the prices for the new Defender were released I did wonder what the target market was, they are not working vehicles given the cost of them. Surely the X5 and porsche thingy customers are not going to be tempted into a Defender so as the OP has asked Landrover are competing against themselves.

Sorry if this counts as hijacking the thread!

Excellent - much appreciated. Driving is rural but continental rural in Spain. Lots of distance driving planned also.

Appreciate the input.

You can't beat the FFRR in any trim guise for long distance driving which is what you want to do, very few cars beat them as they are sooo comfortable, refined, spacious, economical and amazing waftability. I've done 700 mile days towing a big boat and felt reasonably OK.
A new Defender is not going to be in the same league but if you're going for one of these get the 6 cylinder engine rather than the 2020 model four pot.

In that case the best RR Autobiography you can find.

I don't think the defender is at all justifed for your situation.

The RR is shockingly competent off road, highly unlikely you'll push it beyond what it is capable of. For the journeys you want to do, there's just no justification for putting yourself in lesser comfort with the Defender. You're almost the prototypical RR customer.

Both are good, RR is probably nicer to drive in long journeys but I’ve not driven a new Defender so couldn’t say for sure.
One thing to consider though, the replacement to the current FFRR is rumoured to be out next year so might be something to bear in mind.

Exactly this. Post 2018 4.4 SDV8 in AB spec is the solution to your problem.
