Quiet Place 1 & 2

Just back from the cinema (get me!) where we saw a back to back showing of Quiet place 1 & 2.
It was quite interesting seeing them back to back and being able to compare them. The first is so tense, really enjoyable.
The 2nd less so. Let me explain! The film carries straight on from the first which is no problem in itself (if you ignore the fact the younger brother has shot up several inches and is now the same height as his Sister).
The main problem imo is the film relied on jump scares a lot, which do work, while the original only really has one but is edge of your seat stuff all the same.
A lot more happens in the 2nd while the first is the threat of it happening. Not everything makes sense in the 2nd either unfortunately, some things aren’t consistent with the first either.
Not a bad film, far from it, but not as good as the 1st by some margin imo.

I though the first was well made and well acted, but the problem is the central premise just makes no sense. Every film requires a suspension of disbelief, but being asked to accept that no military or government thought to use loud noises against creatures with very sensitive hearing was a step too far. It would have worked better in a historical setting, where it would be much easier to have a group of characters completely cut off from the outside world.

Considering within 10 minutes of people seeing the fire ball in the sky and then everyone was being ripped apart. I don’t think the military had time to test anything out. It also showed that bullets didn’t do anything against their amour.And it’s a film.
