Released by the Ministry of Justice and run by MIB in effort to stop scam whiplash claims and reduce insurance premiums by average of £35 a year.

Free service to claim for personal injury under 5k if driver or passenger in England and Wales.

Saves all of the calls you get after a bump, allegedly.

Sounds like a good idea on the face of it, especially as it doesn't allow for claiming legal costs!
I give it about 5 minutes before copycat sites spring up with a slightly different URL offering to do it for you for a "fee".
And the phone calls from the "official MIB claims team" (Delhi branch) rolleyes

Anything that puts an end to these scum companies leaching off us motorists has to be a good thing.

One good thing about this is that it will get all the claims properly onto a central database. Should make spotting repeat claimants a lot easier, reducing crash for cash and "ghost" passengers?

It'd be hard to come up with a more scamtastic address than that one.

Next stage will be blaming massive levels of fraud for shutting it down.

Indeed. If it is run by the MoJ it needs to be on a .gov.uk domain.

I thought that. Ran by MIB on behalf of MOJ?

Might be the reason it’s not on .gov. Either way, it does look like a dodgy address!

Noble objective.

But how will it stop whiplash scams?

Well for a start there's no recompense for legal fees so the ambulance chasers are out of the loop & secondly if the same name comes up with multiple claims then they will stand out.

Doesn't that happen already? A friend of mine had a claim for personal injury and signed a declaration stating that he hadn't claimed for something similar before. The claim got rejected on the basis that he had put in a whiplash claim 5 years earlier - he HAD been involved in an accident before but he hadnt claimed for the PI bit (as he hadnt actually been injured). However the AMC included a claim for whiplash on his behalf without informing him.

From looking at the sky news report, it says that settling claims without evidence will stop. I’d imagine that alone will save a lot of cash on payouts and fees for claims firms.

One of my plumbers nudged a single lady driver in his van.

No damage but in a works van so did the honest thing and exchanged info.

His nudge to a sole driver became her suffering whiplash along with the other 4 passengers that suddenly appeared. All with genuine GP’s reports.

Where in the UK? Bradford.

At the very least, there needs to be a page on a .gov.uk site explaining it's genuine and linking to it.

Where I used to work we had GPS trackers fitted to the vans and then (IIRC) they were moving to having dashcams installed as well. Not only did it benefit our insurance premiums but I'm guessing it would help avoid situations like this.

When you add on the supposed £200 reduction due to the banning of introductory rates car insurance will be almost free next year.

Also a load of bks (not you, the myopic regulator).

For hindsight later...

- current customers will continue to see increasing premiums
- switching will no longer net you a material saving

The Secret Barrister, "Fake Law", Ch. 3

https://twitter.com/BarristerSecret/status/1399280...

"The government is cracking down on out-of-control whiplash fraud! Saving YOU, the motorist, £35 a year on your premium! Huzzah!

Only, as Chapter 3 of #FakeLaw explains, you’re not being given the truth.

Those in power are misleading you."

Agreed, should definitely be on a gov.uk domain, insane that it's not, and makes me doubt the competency of the entire thing. It is operated by a third party, but I can't imagine that it's a problem since it's performing an "official" government service.
