Seeing more instances of SMIDSY and knowing at least two people who had incidents just this weekend I started thinking about a camera.
Not sure if I'd go hard wired or not or just something I can clip on and go. What I have noticed is you either get good picture or good image stabilisation but rarely both. I also don't want anything stuck to my helmet. It has to be on the bike.

Bike is more convenient if it is hardwired and not simple for someone to steal it. AFAIK if it is on the bike, the police can seize footage. If it is on your helmet (ie on your person), it’s more problematic for the police to sieze it. Welcome to be corrected if this is not correct.
You want one which is auto-on and loops footage (ie delete old footage) for less flaff.

The ability of the police to seize and use the footage has always been my concern. Like most, I like to think that most of my ridding is pretty safe but I view many national speed limits as "advisory" so could end up easily "shooting myself on the foot" should I be required to hand a camera over.

It's something I've thought about also. Which is why I thought of something I could clip on the bars or under the front intake. There's always chest mount and GoPro but battery life is awful and doesn't loop. KobayashiMaru86 said:

The difference (afaik) is that it is attached to the vehicle, or it is attached to the person. Attached to the vehicle, it can be seized. You would need to have the presence of mind to remove a vehicle camera before it was noticed Maybe this isn’t really something to worry about. There are a lot of dashcams and police don’t go trawling through them... in general.
Here is a tiny camera (this seller is the manufacturer and is great to deal with) - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184679189265?hash=item2... - which has been in production for years they are tough as old boots and which can be easily modified with different lenses etc, I use them as dashcams but I'am going to mount one on my bike instead of the Drift Ghost S that I currently use.
I would recommend using a battery pack placed under the seat and run the USB cable to the camera to power it.
