Brake warning light been on, now car won’t start connected?

Strange one, I changed the front pads on my Vantage MY2010 coupe at the weekend but broke one of the brake pad wear sensors in the process (waiting for new one). Obvioulsy I got a low brake pad warning text and red brake light on when starting the car.

I just switched it off and used the car as I knew the brakes were safe. Used the car about half a dozen times then went to use it again this evening.

Key fob opened doors, seats moved, put key in slot and absolutely nothing. No white light, red light, solenoid noise, nothing.

I had brake pedal pressed and clutch pedal in too.

Is this the car telling me it’s not going anywhere with what it believes are dodgy brakes or is it not that clever and something else is broken?

The brake wear sensor would not be preventing an engine start

Are you sure you haven't pressed the battery disconnect switch in the boot?

Could be tracker fault?

Maybe use the spare key, your main key security chip could be faulty?

Get an OBD reader and find any codes if there are any?

Also make sure your battery is fully charged and connected to a battery conditioner

Cheers Paul, I don’t think there is a battery disconnect on my car but the seats and central locking are working anyway. Infotainment system won’t switch on though.

I’ve tried the spare key but no different, could be tracker I wouldn’t know how to check that.

I’ve put the battery on charge just in case, I was thinking maybe the car won’t let me start it as I’ve ignored it’s red brake light a few times, but really it was just a long shot as it’s very coincidental. Never happened before!

Cracked it this morning - car wouldn't start after the battery recharge so I thought why not try a reboot? I took the battery earth cable off for 10 seconds, reconnected and suddenly everything was fine!

No idea what happened but it seems to have corrected.

I am pleased that the issue has been resolved. In the past I have broken a few brake pad warning sensors over the years. I have stripped off the ends of the 2 wires and joined them together in order to avoid the warning lights and messages while I waited for the replacement.
