IHT planning - who to speak to?

Hi all

I am getting to the position where I need some advice on IHT planning for the future and I am not sure who to speak to or even the type of person I need to engage e.g. Solicitor/IFA/Accountant etc let alone finding a decent trustworthy one! We have a general accountancy firm we use to do tax returns etc. but haven't discussed with them yet until I have a bit more info.

Has anyone got any pointers of who to speak to or any recommendations? I am looking for sensible planning advice not wanting to find the most spurious loopholes etc

Best bet is to find a Trusts and Estates Practitioner local to you: https://www.step.org/about-step/public

First step ensure your wills are up to speed, including Powers of Attorney.

After that it depends on your situation, and the complexity of it, as to who can offer the right kind of advice. Some IFA solutions will sort some issues, decent accountancy & legal work for larger, more complex cases.

Some firms do offer both IFA/accountancy or IFA/solicitor advice and that can be a great efficiency, although they are relatively rare.

Where about in the country are you? It may help people suggest firms to potentially work with.

Thanks for the tips, I am in West Herts but also London with work, if you had any recommendations that would be amazing, I don't think its super complex but want to make sure I am doing things as efficiently as possible
