total911 Issue 3 - feedback?
Discussion
Got my copy through the post yesterday.....
Good review of the 4S, although it gets a bit samey, when that's all every other mag/web site is writing about at the mo' but i understand that's still the news so to speak.
The RUF review was pretty good.
I like very much the cars types/descriptions at the back.
Seemed a fair bit thinner than this months GT PP, or is that my imagination ??
Getting better though IMHO

Great mag with excellent features and photography. Doing the reports on mods, as mentioned above, on a down to earth scale would be good and as well as the features you run on borrowed cars, how about features on your motors so will give us some insight on what you the magazine guys run! You could also feature one off readers cars on top of the regular contibutors that are published. Is there going to be a classified section in time? I know you are only on issue 3 and its still early days, but a great start non the less!
Another excellent issue, keeping up the high standard.
As for comments on the content, I'm inclined to agree about leaving out the model details at the back - I can't believe the majority of readers even look at them, let alone need them every month. Perhaps a quarterly inclusion would suffice? You'd also have more time to make sure you get all the facts right and save having to make apologies for the odd typo!
I hope you won't go down the same route as 911 & PW with articles on "how to....". Not that there's anything wrong with that in itself, but it looks to me to be an area that's pretty well covered, both there and elsewhere. I'd also avoid copying their idea of articles on the machinery owned by the staff - that 'died' on 911 & PW, probably because no one owned anything exciting. If total911 is about the glamour of the 911, there's a limit to what I want to read about how to keep a ratty old car on the road!
I enjoy the present mix of articles, but the ones that really appeal most to me are those that manage to combine exotic machinery with driving under testing conditions, all backed by stunning photos.

How about a quartely "pull-out" or supplement that details the model specs? That would be nice to have on the office wall

Good idea. Or perhaps a quarterly, up-dated wall calendar (i.e. adding 3 months each quarter and deleting the out-dated quarter), with 911 model specifications around the rim and motorsport dates on the calendar? I imagine you'd only have to set up most of the artwork once and the wall calendars would be a rolling advertisement for total911, as well as a useful reminder of what's going on.

Couldn't agree more. "This month we change the shock absorbers on our shagged 944. See how we did it in full colour on pages 56-98." NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think we should worry too much, the staff of Total 911 are in a different league. What planet is Keith Seume on with his mini alloys and 'tattoo' on his 911 2.7? It looks nearly as rediculous as his beard. But not quite.

Yeah, but as he keeps reminding people it is a 'REAL CARRERA' and not some mass produced copy!!
What a kn0b!

i couldnt agree more some sad mothers work for that mag
Aw lay off him!
(and his beard!) Keith's a thoroughly nice bloke...You have to remember his background is custom cars(and some very, VERY fast aircooled VWs). He likes to tinker, does Keith...
Each to his own, we all like different things, although I personally don't like what he has done. There are a lot of people out there who think we are all tossers and sad mid life crisis freaks just because we own a Porshce!
But I do like his vast collection of old photos and always enjoy reading about the really early Porsche history. Ferdinand really was a bit of a clever chap, some of the pre-Porshce electric stuff is brilliant.
