Roof

Hi all,

Had my Griff a while now, but never driven it with the back part of the roof up and the top in the boot. I have a long m-way journey this afternoon, is there a speed limit that the roof can handle in this position? am I alright to drive 'normally'?
Also, is this position a lot more windproof inside the cockpit.

Don’t know never done that, but I have found that driving with the passenger window up and drivers down I get less buffet than either both up or down.

I hate driving with the rear section up. Makes far more wind noise in mine and is guaranteed to give me a headache within an hour!

I quite often put the roof in that 'targa' configuration and have never had a problem even at warp speeds on track days

Rear screen up gives better rear vision (but who care) & more buffeting.

So we think that although it has been tested at starship enterprise speeds, its probably more annoying that just having the whole thing down....

edit: good point, rear vision dosen't matter much when everthing else is going slower.

I much prefer it with the rear section up, also you can then see the Rozzers in time to slow down !!

I was told by the TVR Centre not to take it above 90mph with the rear screen up (track days only of course). I've never risked the screen above that speed so don't know if that really is the level, but I can confirm that there is a lot more noise and turbulence with it up as it just scoops the air back into the cabin.

Can look pretty cool for cruising around though...

It takes 10 seconds to drop the rear section so why bother having it up? When you need a new rear perspex section just get one (about £175-£200 fitted) which is a bargain comapred to most other spend items.

Indeed... or as it is so easy to flip up and down why not simply try it? Rich...

0-100mph is a lot quicker with the whole roof on than off and rear folded. My guess is that with the rear up it is even slower than down. However I quite like the roof off rear raised and with both windows up, on my car buffetting is less than with all down.

Obviously the best fact is that you have the option to choose as the whim takes you.

I find vision better with rear down especially after being shown that un doing the velcro bits makes the rear fold down a further inch or two

Tend to remove just the targa panel and keep the rear section up on cooler days and motorway journeys, rear section comes down on warm days.

Well.....I ended up having the whole lot down, was a fun journey, but very windy, eyes were very red by the end of it.

Just picked up this thread. If its any help ive had my Griff up to 140mph with just the rear section up and no problem.
