Wanting to pick the brains of the masses please.

Friend of mine has a 2007 BMW 335i and works in London so with the expansion of the ulez was curious and checked his private plate on the tfl website and it says it’s not ulez compliant. He has also tried 8 other 2007 BMW 335i by taking the registration off autotrader and they are all ULEZ compliant?? Does he have some sort of rare one that isn’t ulez complaint or is the dvla/tfl wrong.

Cheers all.

What car was the private plate previously on? This may be the reason.

It was previously on 1995 Kawasaki zxr400.

The bike was sorn for a fair few years and to put the plate on retention he had to mot the bike etc. We are hoping it’s a glitch in the matrix? Hence why we are asking on here if there is anything rare about it that would make it not ulez complaint.

Check what category the V5 says it is. It should be at a minimum:
Petrol: Euro 4
Diesel: Euro 6

I'd be surprised if it wasn't Euro 4.

My 2005 330i is, even my 2002 325ti was!

Could he try using the plate it had before he swapped it?

Private plates confuse the ULEZ checker. It said my 2002 330d was exempt which I assume is because it had a private plate.

Yep all sorted thanks all. Email to tfl confirms it is exempt and able to enter without charge!! So the tfl website definitely doesn’t like private plates.
