Coinbase doing my head in
Discussion
Hi
I initially set up a coinbase account about 18 months ago but never used it. Last week I attempted to actually transfer some money in but it says 'account restricted' so I can't add a payment method. It's still restricted now, a week later.
My account says Level 1 and 2 verified.
I can't raise a ticket because the stupid system forces you to pick issues from a drop down menu. If I pick the 'transferring fiat' option then none of the subsequent options are about my account being restricted.
Anybody able to offer some guidance?
Thank you

I had the same thing - they wouldn't let me verify my bank account. Support was useless, just a generic response to say "we won't tell you why". So I binned them off and went with Binance - account fully setup with ID verification and bank account within an hour.
Thank you.But isn't Binance crypto to crypto only? ie you can't transfer in £
Cheers

Dont understand the question - you can transfer in £ and transfer out £ or any FIAT from Binance once you trade.
I was under the impression that with Binance you couldn't transfer in fiat. I thought I read that on an online comparison of the different platforms.I'm assuming I've got that completely wrong then??
Thank you

Hi - yes apologies for the short question. You can buy crypto using a card or set up a bank transfer mechanism once validated. They give you a AC no/sort code and a specific reference to put into the transfer. I'm assuming I've got that completely wrong then??
Thank you
To transfer you tell them how much, check the codes and then set up the transfer from your banking app.
Then wait a little while for it to appear in Binance, from there you can trade.
Hope that helps

No problem, thanks for putting me straight on that. I'd obviously got the wrong end of the stick there. To transfer you tell them how much, check the codes and then set up the transfer from your banking app.

I'll sign up with them later on today.
I must say as a newbie I really don't understand Coinbase. I'm assuming they make decent money given that they are one of the biggest in the market? Yet their customer service is non existent. I know they can't cater for every numpty like me but I wasn't even able to raise a ticket for my particular issue.
Anyway, thanks again

I ended up dropping them for similar reasons and the charges are quite high compared to Binance. Binance has an easy mode on the app, it did take me a while to get used to the way you trade etc but quite happy with it now.I'll sign up with them later on today.

I actually mine to their pool too as they payout daily.
Binance looks very complicated and scray if you're a newcomer, but basically ignore everything you see on the trading screen except the small section at the bottom centre where you buy and sell. Just remember to set which one you want - market or limit trade. The charts and transaction panels filling the rest of the screen can be ignored as all they do is add to the confusion for newbies.
It's worth noting that Binance doesn't show your P&L - you have to calculate it manually or make a note elsewhere. It's the biggest thing that annoys me about it but might just be me.
