I just clicked into this thread...and after the first page skimmed the rest to see if it got any more level-headed. It didn't...it turned into a verbal lynching...

This wasn't in The Lounge, where I think we all know "Wetherspoons rules" apply. It was in SP&L, where you'd hope you could get some genuine advice and very little in the way of abuse.


Is this what PH is now? And are the mods and admins happy about it?

I acknowledge the naivety in that statement, but it was deliberate. What's the point of that sub-forum if it's just as unhelpful and combative as the others?



PS - report button...for half the posts on there?!? Plus I don't think it'd do any good...I suspect that the mods have either:-
- been told to go easy as they want to preseve the quantity of traffic (over quality, it seems); or
- been overwhelmed by workload

SPL now seems to be a space for people to mock anyone that gets caught for speeding, and is IMHO as toxic as NPE.

Mods haven’t been told anything, or overwhelmed by anything. You can report as many posts as you want and they will get looked at.

I don't think the tone of that thread would have been any different in any of those preceding months and in fact when this was all fields it would have been posted in the Lounge pre SP&L and he would have been utterly destroyed in there, not much has changed

Its a blatant ambulance chasing/compo thread which deserves derision imo, if a crime had been committed go to the police, he just wanted a cry and a moan and come compo to make him feel better

OK. But why the abuse?

Would "you" (the generic you, not you personally) lay it on like that to some bloke in the pub being a dick? No, you'd tell him to give it a rest, maybe jog-on, but I doubt you'd say the same st that was on that thread (and many others). Because you don't want to start a fight in a pub, but it seems perfectly acceptable to do it on social media.

Except in this hypothetical scenario at the very first comment the dick necks his pint and fks off realising he's about to be pulled up on his BS at which point the rest of the regulars have a chuckle at another tall tail from a compo chaser and carry on supping their pints while the NP&E crew wait for their gammon egg and chips
