Been trying to find a new garden parasol for a while, and haven't had much luck.

We've given up on John Lewis, as we've had 2 from there and they've been crap.

The local garden centre only seems to sell them as part of a set with furniture.

We want on that's 3m * 2m, and want something well made and sturdy. A choice of nice colours would be good.

We thought we'd found one we liked on Wayfair and ordered it, but they cancelled the order saying it was no longer available.

Any ideas where else to try?

If you can live with a round one, we've had one of these for about 3 years, used it a lot, and it's surprisingly good and solid for something that was fairly cheap. Does need some big weights on the base.

I got one off eBay. Surprisingly decent quality.

End of the day you can send it back if not right.

We bought a 2.7 metre round one from Amazon 2 years ago for £46, which is no longer available.

We chose it based on the number of good reviews, and it proved to be well made and has lasted very well so far.

They do seem to have some 3x2m parasols with decent reviews:

Bought one from these guys this year and happy with it so far. Seems robust, but we've only had it a few weeks. There are relatively long wait periods. We missed out last year so ordered this one months ago and it arrived mid May.

We went with a cantilever Genesis 3m square with wheeled square base. Mind you, the base weighs over 100kgs when filled with sand so I won't be wheeling it anywhere ! They are not cheap, but seem in keeping with the price for the cantilevers from other suppliers at that size.

We've had an Easy-Sun parasol for over a decade and it's been faultless. (Made by ze Germans).

I bought a cover for it for the winter - I jetwash it in the spring and occasionally spray the fabric with scotchguard.

It's relatively expensive, but it's pretty bulletproof.

Snap. Got this one at the weekend. Seems well made but granted it hasn't been used in anger yet. 4 large bags of kiln dried sand in the base & it isnt going anywhere!

Got the very cheap cantilevered ikea one in a sale recently for about £80. It’s not as flexible as others but super cheap and I’m happy with the quality for the money

Holy thread resurrection ! Well….the one I bought in 2021 above is still going strong with zero problems.

I took the opportunity to re-grease the bearings at the base in the Spring this year…and it needed a new cover earlier this year aswell (but then I’ve been leaving it out 365 days a year). I might put it in the garage this winter (just the parasol….. it lifts out of the base)
