Hi I'm currently looking for a Mk1 GT3 and have found one I like the look of. Everything seems ok, just want the PH opinion of the rev range print out.. If I'm reading it right it had a *very" brief foray into RR2 many hours ago and *should* be OK..?

But far off impossible to only have 4 ignitions in RR2. That’s only 2 turns of the engine and given it’s at 9000 per min. It’s Very very minor. Could be electrical blip

Lots of stories of low number RR2 over revs on these cars, as above suggest its more likely a electrical blip than a proper over rev at +8800 RPM at 2 revolutions. This and its covered plenty of miles after, I wouldn't be concerned.

I would agree, the engines were built to run to 9000rpm without damage and the total of range 1 and 2 is only around 20 seconds in total ... you could always do a compression test which would show a valve not seating fully ... the most likely symptom of any damage ?
