I don't fancy spending a weekend doing a full rebuild, but I'm running out of space on the c:/ drive. What's the simplest way you know to disk image the drive and copy it to a new SSD?

Ta muchly.

I've used Macrium Reflect in the past to do this, and I've got a fairly low level of technical ability. The free version will do what you want.

If you buy SSD from somewhere like crucial you tend to get access to a free (but limited to that device) imaging software that will do it all for you.

Crucial bundle Acronis worked for me. Just follow their website instructions.

I've used this process twice recently to upgrade from HDD to SSD and to upgrade to a larger SSD:

Thanks all. I went with a Crucial SSD in the end. The Acronis imaging software that is free from the Crucial website couldn't have been simpler. Point it at the drives, walk away for half an hour, return and swap drives. Job done.

The only stumbling block was my drive lettering shifted so some of the programs pointing to data on the E:/ drive needed tweaking. But I'm beyond impressed with how seamless it was.
