V8 Vantage CV joint axle/halfshaft boot repair DIY
Discussion
One day I noticed my right halfshaft boot had been torn. A new one was $800 from Scuderia, and mine wasn't making any noises (it had only been torn for a week or so before I noticed), so decided to fix it with a Flexx Boot that didn't require taking apart the CV joint.
It's fairly straightforward, but worthy of noting:
1) The new bolts I got from Scuderia were maybe 5mm longer than what was there. No issue, though.
2) The left side of the car has the ride height sensor that informs the headlight levelers...There isn't much space to get the axle out, and I wound up snapping the arm on mine. It's like one bolt to remove, so...whoops.
3) Keep the axle nut tight until you remove the halfshaft from the gearbox...It's a tight fit.
4) A powered ratchet will be your best friend, and you'll need a torque wrench capable of 300Nm/222ft-lb.
I couldn't find a video on it, so I made my own. Hopefully it'll be helpful to someone in the future:

Enjoyed the video and will definitely be invoking your final piece of advice should one of the boots split on my V8V.
When I watched you juggling the shaft, then tapping the end of the spline, then juggling the shaft again (rinse and repeat) to get the shaft out I did wonder why you didn't just crack the lower ball joint so you could swing the hub out and buy more distance between hub and gearbox. Or am I missing something?

The first time around, I loosened the axle nut and knocked the shaft in before trying to get it out of the gearbox...I messed with it for a while like that, not realizing it wasn't all the way back in the hub...Once I tightened the axle nut back up (which pulled the axle outwards that final millimeter), it had just enough clearance to get out without much swearing.
Overall it's not a hard job unless you have nothing to go on (like me)...The manual isn't particularly helpful when they say "remove halfshaft" when there's a few little gotchas here and there. Same with the Flexx boot and what not...Besides the irritating clamps, I could probably do this job in an hour or two this time around.
