Apart from the obvious answer of being in here what sort of stuff do people get upto?

We have resorted to all of the usual ones such as getting people to phone London Zoo asking for Mr C Lions , etc etc but I wonder if people take this messing around a bit further........

Some highlights for me have included an impromtue game of dodgems in real cars (a c reg montego and a old Y reg fiesta before anyone worries that it involved proper cars )

Another fantastic one involved an office chair on wheels , a tow rope and a brand new car...lets just say this one requires precision driving in the car, nerves of steel and precision braking from the man in the office chair or the car ends up with an arse shaped dent in the side of it that requires an emergency trip to the body shop

P.S Dont try this at home ! But if you do make sure you lubricate the castors on the chair as they start to smoke at about 20MPH

sgt cooke at the Jr Mess.

sending the new lad for a long weight/spirit level bubble/turn the windsock on etc.

bodge taping foolish people to their chair/bench etc

personal faivorite is the id:10T photo.

person gets a form through the internal mail from a cpl len Scap, requiring them to report for the above photo. needs to attend in best blues, but with their respirator, so they can be recognised when wearing it. end result similar to my profile pic, is then mailed round as many sections as we can find.

I used to waste a lot of time on this 'til a customer said "well, pack that f*****g scalextric away", just because I didn't have room in the studio for the products they wanted me to shoot.

Now I play SoF online.

I was hoping to get an archery range, but everyone else wanted a pool table - we didn't get either

Oh, you are reminding me of when I worked at a plant hire place...

The racking on which the plant was stored made an ideal setting for games of chasing each other around without touching the floor tag... enlivened by the guy who was "it" being issued with an air pistol... amazing how far you can jump to avoid a pellet in the arse. The game of dodgems between the forklift and the skip loader was a natural development of this (after all, if you're driving a vehicle, you're not touching the floor...)

We didn't limit ourselves to one office chair either... we put four of them on a market barrow and towed it round the yard with a rotovator.

One of the guys from another depot had a microlight, and one day was going to fly it over our depot... so we took the lights off a lighting tower and rigged the engine to blow exhaust smoke (enhanced with an oil can) out the end of the mast to simulate an anti-aircraft gun.

Then there were the exothermic reactions... releasing clouds of flammable gases under the bog door and then igniting them to singe the guy having a dump. Putting the charge out of a Hilti shot in between the ends of two bolts taped together and dropping it on the floor so the charge propelled the upper bolt round and round the unit - we heard loads of ricochets but never found the bolts. Filling milk cartons with oxygen and acetylene to make little grenades, or filling bin liners with the same mixture to make bloody big bombs that nearly caved the roof in.

Probationer wind-ups are frowned upon these days. One bright spark tried to get me to phone Heathrow Airport CID and ask if a message could be passed to DC TENNE.

During a really quiet night in custody we'd create mock custody records on the play database and write up the prisoner disposition board, then hand over to the days custody Sergeant all these "prisoners" who don't exist!

Once we even "stole" a probationers car, drove it into a woods and then had the area car call up a Fail to Stop and commence a pursuit commentary. He had an Astra which we'd had loads of nicked at the time. We deliberately had the probie the other end of the patch, him calling up on the radio, "That's my car!"
It finished by him running after the "criminals" (Police Officers from next door division), to me met by the entire shift round the corner! Priceless!

I should add, all units, the control room, EVERYONE was in on it. There was no pursuit, no units making towards and no risk to Joe Public.

I am boring, if I am bored I make up a project, like design new menus, or reprint the price list or other boring work related stuff.
