The nav , radio central display in my 2016 340 has just started turning itself off then back on in around 30 second cycles . Ive had it from new and there’s never been any devices connected to the car .
Has anyone had a similar problem and is there an easy fix ? I’m doubting that one though .

If I recall correctly the headunit needs a software update/reset.

Can’t a software update be done over the air? Or maybe download onto a USB stick and then update. I’m sure I have done both.

I’m the bloke who doesn’t even use his phone for internet , it would be quicker for me to push the car from the Wirral to bmw Liverpool to sort the problem !

I don’t have a smart-phone, but I can still download software onto a stick, or set the car to automatic updates.

Unfortunately a stick to me is something to beat a burglar with ! I’ve booked it into the main dealers but thanks for trying to explain, if I ever stop dragging my knuckles through my cave floor I could save a bloody fortune !

Not on this generation of iDrive. And even if it were of pedigree that did support OTA, I am not sure this could be done when the unit is rebooting itself...

OTA updates were for incremental map updates only and the software update you could get off of BMW's website to load onto a USB stick was basically for Bluetooth compatibility etc, it didn't update the entire headunit's software.
