My Dad is upgrading his boat for a 1987 Nimbus 3003.

It looks in very good condition.

Does anyone have any advice regarding the Volvo Penta TAMD41 200hp Diesel engine? We think it’s an A (not a B).

Also, anyone with any advice for this model?

Many thanks in advance!

We ran a Nimbus 31 Coupe with that engine for 3 years (about 20 years ago now) and they are very solid and reliable as long as they are well maintained, there's really not much to go wrong with them.

The only trouble we had was with the Volvo sea water strainer not sealing fully after maintenance work which created an overheating problem (embarrassing in the exit to the River Hamble on a Sunday afternoon...) a quick Google shows that this has happened to other people as well.

Nimbus boats were (and I believe still are) very well made and comfortable if not exactly sporty.

Thanks Peter, it looks very nicely looked after.

Have arranged for a survey and sea trial - this will be moved to a river marina for an easier life!
