Meltons
Il Paradiso del Cibo

Outside of these (and Skosh in particular is excellent) Roots - https://www.rootsyork.com/ - Tommy Banks restaurant, which has now earned it's first star. Been several times, and really enjoy it. Skosh

Del Rios is not the best Italian in York, authentic food quality is best at Il Paradiso Del Cibo. Del Rios has other qualities.
I'd quite like to try Del Rios, but my fiance once had a bad meal there about 20 years ago so of course it's still on the blacklist as far as she's concerned. There's a belting little French restaurant called Rustique, on Castlegate. I had an absolutely superb fillet steak last time we went there.
Lucia (wine/cocktail bar that serves some very nice Italian grub) on Grape Lane is decent for a spot of lunch.
Or try Marzano on Fossgate for a good traditional Italian restaurant.
