The title says it all.

Heading over to York at the end of the month for a few nights to celebrate a special birthday.
We like almost anything so looking for any recommendations please.

We are staying in the centre so walking distance is a must.

Thanks

Outside of these (and Skosh in particular is excellent) Roots - https://www.rootsyork.com/ - Tommy Banks restaurant, which has now earned it's first star. Been several times, and really enjoy it.

I’ve not been to Roots as yet but a number of friends have done so and enjoyed it. Got a visit planned in a couple of weeks before returning to France for a couple of months.

All of which are spot on, we love Skosh. Something lighter, sotano for tapas, cave du cochon as well. Yuzu Korean @ brew York is also a guilty pleasure.
Enjoy a steak, whippet inn.

Del Rios is best Italian in York, and really lovely and atmospheric. The creamy pear pasta is incredible.

Viceroy is best Indian I have been to in York.

The Pavement for ribs, craft beer and less formal eating.

Del Rios is not the best Italian in York, authentic food quality is best at Il Paradiso Del Cibo. Del Rios has other qualities.

I'd quite like to try Del Rios, but my fiance once had a bad meal there about 20 years ago so of course it's still on the blacklist as far as she's concerned.

There's a belting little French restaurant called Rustique, on Castlegate. I had an absolutely superb fillet steak last time we went there.

Lucia (wine/cocktail bar that serves some very nice Italian grub) on Grape Lane is decent for a spot of lunch.

Or try Marzano on Fossgate for a good traditional Italian restaurant.
