I’m 50,not ridden a bike for 15 years and now having a mid life crisis.

My previous bikes have been a VFR 400,Speed Triple and a CCM 604 and a Husaberg 550.

I have my eye on the Street Triple RS or Yamaha XSR.

Are there others I should look at and why?

I’ll be honest, all the electronics and rider modes on new bikes are a bit of a worry,I don’t know why but they are.

If you fancy a Street Triple go for the R rather than the RS, I wish I had!
Street is a bit too track focussed with rock hard suspension and the engine really needs revs to come alive.
I believe the current R has a more traditional dash than the RS if electronic gizmos aren't your thing.

I too would advise against the Street RS. It’s frenetic and not in a good way.

Disagree, I've had an RS for nearly 4 years now, for road use set the suspension to Comfort and it's great on the road, the difference in torque between the R and the RS is not really noticable, yes I have ridden both. The RS has better suspension and brakes.

Really?? I disagree not frenetic at all unless you decide to ride it that way.

I bought my RS coming off a GSXR 750. I was bitterly disappointed with every aspect of the Triumph.

If you've narrowed it down to those two already, go and ride them and preferably something else like an adventure bike as well and see what you like - your 50 year old body will probably prefer an adventure style position - I know my back does
