Farcela G3 Premium or AG Super Resin Polish for whole car
Discussion
I have a black car that is looking very swirly and I'd like to start addressing that with a good polish. I'm no detailer and I am not aiming for perfection, just a basic improvement on what is a daily driver.
In the garage I have two options:
- Autoglym Super Resin Polish
- Farcela G3 Premium Compound (which describes itself as a cut and finish product)
I used the G3 recently on a small scratch and was absolutely blown away by how good a result I got. It obviously cuts faster than SRP but it does seem to finish to a high standard as well.
The G3 got me thinking about doing the whole car. My question is, is there any reason not to use it in that way? The car has clearly never been done in its life (5 year old E Class). I can imagine using heavier cutting compounds repeatedly would be a bad thing, but I think I am safe here.
FWIW I would be doing by hand. Like I said, not aiming for perfection, just a marked improvement. I see people on YouTube talking about 90%+ correction but I think 60% (on whatever scale they are using...) would be enough.

Why not compare 2 areas with the 2 products first, spend an equal amount of time and effort with both over the same area, compare the results then make a decision, you may even get the best result by starting with the G3 then going over it with the SRP as that has a certain amount of fillers in it (plus a very mild cut)

I suspect I will be OK going with the G3.

G3 is a coarse cutting compound meant primarily for use with a machine polisher.
I do agree with you, although there are a few different G3 products and the Premium version describes itself as a cut and finish product. The other versions of G3 describe themselves as a cut only product.I’m not keen to buy a machine polisher, so think I will probably just end up with a lot more work doing by hand but still a significant improvement.
Thanks for the replies.

I use G3 premium on paint flatted with 2000 grit.I’m not keen to buy a machine polisher, so think I will probably just end up with a lot more work doing by hand but still a significant improvement.

It's not a finishing product if you want a really good finish, it's way to coarse.
You'll be disappointed with the finish you get by hand with any compound.

Honestly that sounds like too much effort! Sorry. It isn’t a question of whether the G3 gets a better finish in my case, because I’m sure it will, I think my main question was whether using the G3 would do any damage.

Any compound is only going to damage paint if you take to much off / burn the paint, sound like you need a single stage hybrid compound, which the G3 you have may be (from your description) to be honest if it's a case of putting in minimum effort find a good local detailer put your hand in your pocket and get them to single stage it / add protection then just keep that topped up with something like Garage Therapy Two Sigma I suspect I will be OK going with the G3.
Srp doesn’t have much cut but will fill the swirls to make it look better, it’s a very underrated easy to use product.
Problem I found is that it doesn’t last long unless topped with their extra gloss protection or a spray wax.
Bilt hamber cleanser polish is also a very good product similar to Srp but said to be better.
