Passenger wing mirror not returning to position

I’ve noticed an intermittent issue whereby after reversing ( and the passenger door mirror adjusting correctly) the mirror doesn’t always return to the correct memorised position when I start driving forwards (MY14 DB9) It’s occasionally happening. I can simply adjust the mirror using the controls on the door card but wondered if anyone has had this problem? Is there a door mirror module that needs replacing?

My 2015 Vantage does this occasionally, especially after I reverse it into the garage. I drive out, unfurl the mirrors and I'm looking at tarmac on the left. As I have memory seats I just press the memory button for my seat position and the mirror glass promptly tracks to its correct position.

Unless the mirror dies I plan to just keep using the memory to correct this - as it's intermittent I'm guessing it's just a software bug rather than a major issue; if you don't have memory seats I guess it could be irritating having to readjust the mirror.

Off the top of my head I think my car only does this when I stop and "key off" in reverse; the mirror seems to have forgotten it was in the "reverse" position when I restart. I can't recall if it's ever not returned to the correct position after I reversed then selected drive while manoeuvring without an ignition off.

Ah - thought it was just me ! Useful tip re the memory seat switch as it can be a bit embarrassing having to stick your arm out of the window to give it a helping hand.

One thing I thought was that if you've had your mirrors powder coated, it could be too little tolerance between the arm and the mirror cap resulting in friction, but not seen any witness marks to evidence it.

Jonny, your reply referring to a "helping hand" has confused me. Is your problem:

1. the mirror glass not returning to the drive position after it dips to show the kerb when you select "R", or
2. the mirror head not folding out after you fold the mirrors in by either pressing both mirror buttons simultaneously or (if you have this selected) locking the car?

My problem is No. 1 - I've not had a problem with the mirror heads unfurling from the "tucked in" position

Just thought I'd add a little tip about mirrors that everybody may not know. I have my Vantage set to dip both mirrors when I select "R", but if I want to see down the side of the car when reversing rather than the kerb, if you press the mirror button for the side you want to see normally in, the glass on that side will "undip" back to the drive position. Similarly, if you don't have the mirrors set to dip on reverse but want to see the kerb on the left (or right) then pressing that mirror button when in reverse will dip the glass on that side.

This works on my 2015 Vantage as it did on my 2007 Volvo (similar PAG systems) but not sure if it works on the pre-2012.25 MY cars when the "mirror dip" option couldn't be programmed by the driver from the car menu

Mine would occasionally get stuck inwards (as in tucked in), applied some lubrication to the joint et voila. Works fine now.

Apols - mine's issue 2. I'll scrap the handy tip I just learned....
