Can anyone recommend parts suppliers for BMW E28 srs5 M535i? Urgently need two front suspension coil spring struts. Shock absorbers are OK. Checked several sites, no luck. Have been told same strut part from next srs 5 E34 are compatible? numbers for parts I'm seeking are Left strut 31312226166 and Right strut...6167. Thanks.
You should be able to check part numbers here to see if they are the same or not:

P.S. You don't say where you are based, not much point in recommending a garage in Japan if you are in Brazil?

According to RealOEM, that part was only used on the the e28 5 series and the e24 6 series.
Maybe someone is getting mixed up between e24 and e34?
Part number 1 on this diagram/link...

If they're available as Genuine BMW parts it's likely to cost £1000/corner...as those models are within the BMW Classic catalogue now and parts are made in batches once enough orders come in.
But from the rough pictures I've seen, the struts look different to the e34 ones.

Thanks for the reply and all info, really useful and appreciated.
Agreed, possible confusion between E numbers. Another reply stated E34 struts need holes enlarging for fixing bolts.
BMW can supply just over £1000; I'm trying to find cheaper so far no success.
Thanks for your response.
Chris.

OP, you know you can just stick the BMW part number into the Ebay search, it should bring back what you are looking for:

There is a brand new OE one from Greece for just over £320?

M535i's have ABS and this a different strut with the hole for the ABS sensor. The standard problem is the spring cups rotting out. If you can find a pair of (much cheaper) used non ABS struts, you can cut the spring cups off by grinding the welds away, blasting the cups clean and seam welding them to your strut. I had to do this on an E24 a few years ago. Done correctly it's a perfect repair.
The E34 strut sort of fits as a complete thing with the springs and the lower plate - the E34 has 19mm bolts, not 17 mm.
Someone was doing new spring cups and I forget who it was. Schmiedmann?
Edit: E28 struts are 51mm outer diameter as are the E30 325i and almost all E30 Touring struts. I'm 99.99% sure that E28 and E30 coil springs are the same diameter so a pair of E30 spring cups should fit.
