Been looking into both of these as will be replacing the Tesla later this year and fancy a change.

They're essentially identical cars underneath but once you start speccing them the difference in cost is staggering, yet have seen very few threads talking about the Audi?

The e-tron GT with 93kWh battery and pretty much every option is around £1250 a month on a 4 year/40k mile lease.

The Taycan 4S with 93kWh battery and a spec as closely aligned to the Audi as I could manage is around £1600 month on the same terms.

Around £17k more for the Porsche over the 4 year term, that's a hell of a premium?

Yup, great isnt it? Idiots like me pay a premium to get a Porsche. And while morons like me exist, Porsche will consistently take our money.

Maybe I should get a brain.... ;-)

I’d love to be in a position where I could write off 77k in car payments over 4 years.

Saying that, is it not cheaper to buy one? Do they really depreciate that much after 4 years that you’re worse off?

It'll be company supplied via salary sacrifice so will be costing me far less than that fortunately.

The issue with the Porsche is the £26k of options and how much of that is retained at 4 years old, but yes you would expect to save a considerable sum buying either outright.

High initial purchase price? Tick
German? Tick
Luxury segment? Tick
Powerful? Tick
Lots of options? Tick
Fuel guzzling? Tick (except its electrons)

Mmmm, seeing the depreciation boxes are ticked there..... expect to see it drop like a stone, even if its relative in comparative to the EV market.

People fight over free chargers, getting the cheapest rate for charging, moan about 68p per kwh on the 3 times a year they might want to use a super high power rapid charger

while others debate paying nearly 50p per mile more for the porsche to give it some context. It doesn't quite work this way, but that 20 mile round trip to a restaurant cost nearly £30 in lease costs alone.

You've asked a rhetorical question, only you can decide whether its worth the extra or whether either are worth the price at all. I suspect if you went with the Audi you'd always covet the Taycan, if you go the Taycan you wouldn't give the Audi a second look. The Taycan Cross Turismo for me is the car to go for and the 4S CT is all the car most could want.

If you are spending that much already why would you ever pick an Audi over a Porsche?

Though the Audi probably is more exclusive, I see almost as many Taycans around in some parts of the county as Model 3s!!

Equally have you done the sums just to buy one outright? Seems like an easy car to own for pretty much forever, so why give ££££ profits to leasing companies?

Taycan went on sale last year, e-tron GT deliveries started last month, so there will be more of them about.

77k’s worth over 4 years though?

Thanks for explaining the salary sacrifice bit op. But look like amazing cars, whichever you go with.
