Decided to refurb some alloy wheels (first timer), theres some aluminium corrosion (white blotches) which i sanded down to bare metal, the rest of the wheel(s) i sanded down the lacquer/clear coat.

Do i use etching primer or self etching primer? And i have some bodywork primer too, can that be used on alloys?

Thought process:

Sand down
Self/etching primer on the bare metal blotches x 1 coat
Grey primer (used for car body work) on entire wheel x 2 coat
Wet sand
Apply paint x 3 coat
Lacquer x 2 coat

Any suggestions/tips welcome.

Thanks!

Light coat of etch, then primer over.

Cheers👍🏽

Also do i need to bother with that anti rust primer (just seen it at halfords) for the corrosion or will etch and primer do the job?

Not on alloys.

There's probably eleventy million how to youtube videos. See if "paint society" have one that fits. There's also some aussie bloke whose name escapes me.
