Aldi Smoker BBQ C or F thermometer?

Just got mine yesterday and it is all assembled, a cracking little machine at £64. Had it running tonight just to burn it through pre-Sunday barbeque.
One question for those that have it, the lid thermometer is graded in Celsius 50-350, but I suspect it is actually measuring in Fahrenheit and it is a labelling error. The temperature when running corresponds to the Fahrenheit reading I get from the case near the thermometer when I use my infrared thermometer. Perhaps the internal air temperature is very different.
What are your experiences?
