Conveyancing mistake
Discussion
Brief outline:
Purchased a property
Later decided to sell it
Used same solicitor. The buyers solicitor finds the lease is incorrect after extension added prior to my buying of the property
My solicitor admits lease error was noted but decided not to tell me and not to request it was renewed prior to my initial purchase, as in his words he deemed it not important.
6-8 months added to selling along with costs to get lease surrendered and renewed,
Freeholders solicitor fees etc.
Would I have a reasonable case to ask for contributions to my costs from the law firm.

How much are we talking about? My current place has 99 years left on the lease. I have to be in for 2 years, then I can apply for an extension, and I’m being quoted 1700 quid tops. At that level I’d suck it up, it’s not worth getting legal involved.
