At what speeds?

I get a little bit of clunking when on the motorway at about 80, but only if I lurch my foot on and off the accelerator, and only slightly.

Loose diff mounts, worn diff bushes, at that mileage it might be a worn diff or CVs. Best get under there with a pry bar and see what's up.

Possibly, but it seems fairly rare for the prop shaft UJs to go. The CVs seem to go a lot more frequently.

But at a few quid each its easier to replace the UJs if you have the prop shaft out :-) (think I paid less than £6 for the pair on LT77 - GKN shaft from local bearing specialist).

Not completely sure I agree with you Pete about the durability of the PS UJ's. Whenever they are greased via the nipples - the grease ouses out one cap without getting fully to the other - which never seems perfect.

On the whole I'd agree more with mounts / bushes as a diagnosis tho & dont forget the engine mounts.

My Griff is doing this at the moment, and having had it looked at the diff mountings and bushes are sound; it's the backlash in the diff itself (61k). It's going for a rebuild at Competition Transmissions soon.

What sort of cost have you been quoted for a rebuild? My diff is making some fairly serious clonking (45'000 miles) and whilst I know I need to replace the diff bushes I want to try and cost up for the worst case scenario as well.
