I bought this polisher last year when it was on half price offer at Amazon but I'm not really too sure what disc is for what job. Whilst the weather is nice I want to try and do something with it soon.

The main thing we bought it for was to get some light scratches out of a black car, as you can see we tried it briefly but it splattered more polish up the back windscreen that it did on the bodywork.

The three main vehicles we need to polish/buff are a 10 year old black car that has the scratches and the paint is a bit flat in places, like the top part of the doors, a black car thats in very good condition paint wise and just needs a decent polish and lastly a white van that whilst the paint is ok it has had stickers on in the past and you can still see the outline of them where the paint is a slightly different colour.

All the pads in the picture are a different hardness and there are a couple of mops there as well. The actual machine is just like an angle grinder and not a random orbit type.

I don't know who made the pads shown in your pic, but the colours indicate the pads intended job.
If you take a look at the link, it will give you an idea (hopefully your pads are graded the same as the ones in the link).

Also, this may help
