I'm going to guess not.
Yes. It's about showing some respect. Which seems to be in short supply these days on all sides.I'm going to guess not.
Remember the outrage when that scumbag tried to set fire to to Union jack on the Cenotaph?

It was the example I had in mind though I can understand a flag on the Cenotaph being different to some random flag in some random setting.Remember the outrage when that scumbag tried to set fire to to Union jack on the Cenotaph?
Personally I still doubt people would say "it's just a piece of cloth who cares?".
Agreed it's about showing some respect.

Any book written by God himself should be sacred and protected.
Written by God himself ??How did that work then? pencil? biro? a piece of charcoal?

Do you think he’s forgotten about us or something?

I remember in High School the 1st years would all be given a bible and every year they ended up on the roof of the building and surrounding area.
We were too - along with hearing the lecture from the RE master about good little boys who wanted to go to the Kingdom of Heaven always sleeping with their hands outside the sheets at night. With a tiny line of glue the wafer thin pages made excellent cigarette rolling papers and not only saved the need for Rizlas but also reduced the evidence of tobacco use if you were searched. I must have smoked pretty much the entire Old Testament during the five years I was away at school.

Many years ago at secondary school I remember the Gideons handed out a bible to everyone in our year. Later that day a few kids in the playground ripped the pages out of theirs. 30 years on and the community still hasn't recovered from this awful day in history...
But they desecrated it (to use the hysterical words used by the school). We don't have a blasphemy law in this country anymore. That holdover from superstition and unreason was abolished in 2008. So curious what offence the schoolchildren have committed.
People need to be told "you can pray to whatever sky fairy you like, no-one else gives a toss"

Seems an inefficient way for an omnipotent being that creates universes to communicate?

i don't know, how do omnipotent beings communicate with Humans. Would voices in their head work, not sure on that one.Do you think he’s forgotten about us or something?
It is in the Bible - so it must be true.

You would have thought he could have just told everyone wouldn't you, voice from the sky style, and cut out the middle crazy man. Do you think he’s forgotten about us or something?
