Oof. That's gotta hurt if true.
How is that possible??On it’s record breaking run, the APT suffered a several minute delay due to a faulty red signal, was built using 1970’s technology, and since then the west coast line has had billions in upgrades to allow for faster running.

"The intercity operator’s iconic Pendolino set No. 390044 will depart London Euston at 10.36 for a non-stop journey to Glasgow Central, aiming to beat the current record of 3 hours 52 minutes and 40 seconds."
So it should have been there before 14:28:40. No?
It got there at 14:29. I think.

“After almost 40 years it’s time for this record to be broken, and I wish everyone the best of luck as they attempt this impressive feat. Our rail network binds our Union together, and today’s attempt underlines why our clean, green railways is a great way to see the UK.”
He could have cut that down to:
“Great Britain, where it’s always 1984 on our railways, and nothing much appears to have changed”
