Morning,
I did something amazingly stupid yesterday, something i've never done before, and on leaving work, left my mobile on the car roof.
By the time I worked out where I'd left it, (some time later) I went back to work, but obviously it was picked up!

Tried to call it, but said it was turned off.

It was a Samsung S7, 8 digit passcode, would they have managed to get anything off it before I had chance to call provider, block the number and IMEI number? Most photos were in "Private" mode, is that any more secure?

I've changed all passwords to all accounts just in case, and there seems to have been no activity on anything.

Thanks

I don't think so. On my phone even if you plug it into a computer you need to unlock the phone to enable access to the files. I'm sure some tech-savvy nerd could do it, but your average Joe Bloggs? Wouldn't have thought so.

From a quick search, it looks like the S7 encrypts both internal memory and sdcard so you should be pretty solid.

Also sounds like you can remote wipe it so if they do turn it on then everything gets deleted https://itechify.com/2016/07/03/wipe-galaxy-s7-dat...

Also it may not be off, it might be in pieces by the road somewhere?

Thanks all.

Appreciate the replies, and hopefully all good.

Would not have been damaged as has a really tough case on it. Been quite liberating with no phone for a while, I must admit.

The missus felt sorry for me powering up my old S2, then laughed when I loaded up a web page in almost 90's like fashion, and ordered me a new S21 Ultra, so every cloud and all that!

Again, appreciate the replies, just felt a little odd if I thought someone had access to any of my personal data, pictures etc.
