How Many Hours Do You Waste A Day ?

What does your typical 24hr work day look like ?
Wake 6am, lay about in bed reading the news on my phone , look at work stuff with one eye closed just in case some disaster has happened over-night whilst the Wife and Teen are in with the bathrooms.7am Breakfast and household chores, read/reply to work e-mails whilst shovelling toast into my face.
08:30: School Run
09:15 Office. I tend to deal with anything urgent, then work at silly pace for about an hour, then I'm dithering in the internet for a bit, then work silly pace (this is not showing off, I'm just impatient) for an hour, on/off all day.
17:30: Gym or bike ride, depending on the day, except Fridays when I have a beer or two.
19:00 (gym nights) 21:00 (bike nights) home, cook, chores, have dinner with Wife.
22:30 Bed, watch nonsense on YT whilst the wife sleeps.
23:30 sleep.
Boring AF.
Work: In at 6:45am. Smash it out for a couple of hours. Then onto PH and t'web until noon, lunch. Smash it out until 3. Then home
Home: Wake up 6am for a shave, s
t n'shower and go to work. Upon returning if the weather is dry I'll garden (uphill) and clean/vac/tinker with the cars, vac and tidy in the house, cook dinner (not tea) and wash up. I cave/dig/tour 2-3 nights a week; when I'm not doing this I'll watch pointless car and car cleaning videos on YouTube. Haven't watched TV for 2 years and have no desire to watch talentless muppets.

I generally waste 7.5 hours of every weekday because I have to sell that time to a corporate overlord in order to pay the bills.
Don't be crazy, you are advancing your career. When you are on your death bed think of how great you career was and not what you could have done with all that time instead.I suspect surfing the internet for four hours a day is not that far from the norm now that people are working from home. This is why companies want their staff back in the office.

My Dad is 87, he never gets up before 11 am these days, despite having been in the forces for the best part of 48 years (25 Years UK, 23 years Oman) - he says it's the best thing about being retired. For me:
Up at 05:45 work for 0700, home for 19:30
19:30 - 20:00 eat
20:00 - whenever spend time with Family
22:00 Aim to get to bed.
I only do it for 3 / 4 days of the week though, so on my days off it's different.
Up at 0800 - sort school stuff out
10:00 Gym
12:00 Home / X box / PC / Chores
12:00 - 17:00 "my time"
17:00 Cook for Mrs.
17:00 - 22:00 TV, Web or other stuff.

I think it is important that we define ‘waste’.
I suppose I mean time that could be spent more productivelyI'm self employed and when I'm working for someone, I'm generally 100% working but when I have days at home that I should be working for myself - ie adverts, accounts etc I find I waste huge amounts of time just delaying starting / finishing the boring stuff
As I mostly work alone I also use PH to break my day up as I haven't got any workmates to chat with

If that's what my retirement ends up as then I think I'll be committing suicide within a week 8am get up

Obviously if that suits you - then great - but I feel terrible if I waste a day like that, I enjoy being productive
Back when I worked for a big company I would say I would waste at least half my working time, some days literally entire days.
Now I work for myself I waste very little time.
I have a structure to my day, I have to follow it or things dont run right. Plus I have to be here, first in last out.
I can have the (very) rare day off but it takes a lot of planning and tbh most of the time its not worth the hassle.

Apart from the school run, a education is important. A pm school run! would also be nice but I can see the benefit in leaving them there. (unless of course your really a teacher and the school run is for your gainful employment in which case fair play)

Of other people's, personally and professionally - none if I can help it; I despise similar happening me.
I enjoy my work, so engage in it, and try not to waste any there.
But the concept of what is 'waste' as someone said above is important - it's not as simple as 'all non-productive time'. Example, a few mins chat over coffee with colleagues isn't directly productive m,but it does enhance the quality of the shared endeavour/might refresh attitudes, enough to inspire new insights, refresh your ability to simply function that more than 'pays' for the 'waste' (let alone the simple essential wellbeing aspects etc. Or how about the times spent considering a problem and ways round it /struggling for creative expression/solution of problems/ poking about the net for comparable ideas..?
If the time is my own, and I don't need to share it -and its even better we do- I can waste it on projects, interests, reading a novel or sitting in a garden staring at the inside of my eyelids very, very happily. That's pastimes, not waste IMO - and healthy for balance.

I used to waste a lot of time in the afternoons, home from work by 2.30ish and would do not much until girlfriend got home at 5.
Now though we have an 18month old and she also works from home a lot. So I rarely waste time anymore, I'm only posting now as I'm trying to get him to sleep.
Always seems to be something that needs washing, cleaning, putting away, prepping for tomorrow etc. My TV days are behind me!

although I have picked up some good information over the years, I was looking at the time I waste in general and suspect many are as bad.
