Hello. My father has Alzheimer's and am looking for a simple video monitoring system to keep an eye on him. Features that I'm looking for if possible - wifi connection, ability to talk through camera, continuous loop recording, easy to setup, access via an app. I'd prefer not to have a base station and wires.

Any suggestions?

I’ve been looking at all this kind of stuff recently as part of a home security system for me new house.

Ring cameras are probably your best option, and this one would be perfect for you:

https://en-uk.ring.com/products/mini-indoor-securi...

Only £49, no batteries to run out, and two way talk via built in mic and speaker.

At that price you could buy 2 or 3 of them to put round his home.

They are all viewable remotely from an app.

If you want to have it recording 24/7 and be able to play back footage etc, then you will need a Ring subscription but it’s only £25 per year.

We do the same with our mother in law. (Can't recall the brand)

If you search for baby monitor on eBay there are loads of low cost options. Most are just a stand alone camera with two way sound via Wifi. They mostly come with an app to.

I use 360 eye for my garage.

I have found the Ezviz cameras very good for this sort of thing - cost between £30 and £50 depending on the type of resolution you want.

Android app used to be a bit unreliable, but is much better now. You can set up movement detection and alarms which could be useful too - pain outdoors as movement of things in the wind set them off all the time, but indoors generally fine re false alarms other than sudden bursts of sunlight/cloud cover.

You would need a reliable router depending on how big the property is - mine are used with a mesh system which I think helps a great deal.
