Maybe a storage container from Petty Wood & Co. a food wholesaler?
They were founded in Threadneedle Street in 1816 and were in Southwark from the late 1870s. They now operate from Andover in Hampshire.

Having trawled through all the pottery/earthenware/stoneware/ceramics manufacturers without success, just googling "Wood & Co" "London" with words like 'antique' and then random dates such as 1880, 1900 and so on, seemed like the logical next step (to rule out the current estate agent of the same name). There's is though, always the possibility that 'wood' is only part of the name as in Collingwood, Linwood, etc.
Perhaps your daughter could write to the Petty Wood company? They are clearly proud of their history, so maybe someone there can help identify the container or the age from the font used for the words?
