With one thing and another I've not got around to sitting down and doing some longer term financial planning but approaching 40 it's something I feel I should be sorting out.

I've a defined benefits pension, for years have concentrated on paying off the mortgage which will be done this year. I'm able to put a decent amount each month which I'm not getting much return on.

How does one going about sourcing an IPA? Google? Personal recommendations? Any on here?

I want to sit down with someone and do a full review and advise where best to invest excess income.

There certainly a few trusted IFAs on here. I use a lady who I have known for 15 years and she always does the right thing by our clients. Happy to share her details if you wish.

Can't help, but note that planning and investing are different skills. But by all means hire one for a year to get a plan in place and the wheels turning.
