My wife and her three siblings were left a small number (451) of Lloyds Banking group shares when their mam died. I have a very limited understanding of share dealings but we managed to register the death of their mam with Equiniti who seem to manage these shares through Shareview.

They do offer a share dealing service via post for a minimum fee of £70, and I am just exploring if there are any other (cheaper!) ways to sell these shares at all?

Or is it just Equiniti that can buy these particular shares?

They are held on computer rather than certificate if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

I had this very issue.

From memory they charged £7. The shares were worth approx £119 and was resigned with paying £70.

Quite pleased in the end (not for the circumstances).

That seems good, for clarity was it the same share service, Equiniti through Shareview?

Yes, it was Lloyds shares too.

Had to change the address and name the shares were held in then sell afterwards.

May be worth calling to confirm as it was a nice surprise for us but always good to check!

Lloyds paid a small dividend end of May, just under £3 in your case.
I inherited LLoyds shares too, as a paper certificate and had them transferred to my name as part of my share of the estate ( rather than have them split up between the beneficiaries).
As far as I'm aware, the online shares need you to pay a fee to the company that holds them for you.
