For a bit of fun shall we discuss how to pronounce watch brands as many of them have interesting pronunciations?

Quite a few of them I pronounced incorrectly for ages!

I'll start with a few:

Audemars Piguet - "Oh-de-mar pee-ghey"
Vacheron Constantin - "Va-sher-on con-stan-tan"
Breguet - "Breh-ghey"
A Lange & Sohne - "Aah long-ah oont sown-neh"
Glashutte - "Gl-ass-hooteh"
Tag Heuer - "Tag hoi-er"
Hoblot - "Ooh-blow"
Jaeger Le Coultre - "Yay-ger le-coolt" (The French way of saying Jaeger just sounds wrong to me)
Breitling - "Bright-ling"
Stowa - "Shtow-va"
Omega - Apparently all ways are correct! "Oh-meega", "Oh-mega", "Oh-may-ga"
Richard Mille - "Rik-ard mill" (Not sure about this one)
Piaget - "Pee-ah-zjay" ('zj' is like a sort of z and sh together sound. Basically a French 'g')
Blancpain - "Blonk-pan"
Chopard - "Show-par"
Ulysee Nardin - "You-lee-say nar-dan"

Any other you know of?

(I'm open to corrections and revisions on all the above! smile)

The Jaeger one I struggled with in the past. I tended to the way you described but i’ve heard it being pronounced something like ‘jay jay le coosh’ or something similar

Just get a Rolex. I can pronounce that

Agree with most of them but I would go:

- Aah Lang and Zone (not adding the extra syllable for some reason...?)
- Zhay-zher le-coolt (but JLC to be safe!)
- Ree-shard Mill
- Show-pard (do you not pronounce the 'd'?)

I am the first Omega; Oh-meega.

OP I don't know if you've seen this video as you have a lot of the pronunciations correct and many of those I learned / was corrected by this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8AyFs2uESg

It's a little bit, erm, pompus, but he does go through the actual correct pronunciations.

Söhne definitely pronounced with the 'eh' a the end. Söhne is the plural of sohn in German. Sohn would be pronounced the way you have stated.

wouldn't the umlaut change sown-eh to soon-eh? CF

I'm struggling to find an English word that sounds similar as the ö in Söhne, but "soon" is definitely not it.
More like when you pause in a sentence and use "eeuhm" if that makes sense.

No, Omega is oh-mega, exactly how it's spelt. It's the English spelling of how the Greek letter is pronounced.

Correct! - That's the sound I was hearing in my head, but picked completely the wrong word to describe it! Doh!

I massively rolleyes when someone ( usually not with the actual watch brand ) starts getting adenoidal with brand name pronunciation. “Ohhhh no, it’s Targ hoyer / bryyyyyytling / Partek phileeep” fk off. Just fk right off.
