Gutted I can’t go and see it come in, any ideas when it’ll be back out again?

Caught it in flight last year over the North West when it visited Shannon. Even at a distance and it being at 30,000 feet, it was an impressive sight! Also saw it on the ground at Manchester in 2013.

Was it that long ago, 2013? Wow.
I remember contemplating going up to see it but I was in work till the early hours and I believe it was a morning arrival maybe.
I didn’t go in the end.

June 2013, yep, amazing where the time goes! I was off to a meeting in Newcastle and travelled up the day beforehand and stopped at Manchester Airport on the way up to see it.

I saw it last year when I was driving up the M40, it was huge even at that altitude, a sunny day helped though!

One of my Dad's friends worked airside at FB when it visited the airshow all those years ago and they had to keep moving it to different hard standings as it was so heavy they found it was sinking into the tarmac if it was left in one place too long. After it left they apparently did need to repair some areas that had heavy cracking in the concrete. Think it taught them that certain parts of the airfield needed some updates laugh

Still remember seeing it doing it's displays, surprisingly nimble for such a huge beast.

Ps. Mind you that was the same year they had to ground the Russian Yak-141 VTOL aircraft as he melted the end of the runway while doing a hover display. After that he was only allowed to go to hover above a certain height. They also bought the experimental KA-50 'Black Shark' attack helicopter over inside the AN-225 but couldn't fly it as they had not informed FB they would have it there. The Russian airforce really pushed their luck that year smile

I went down there to watch it. It was a bit of a cluster f*** as we were all waiting at the end of runway 25. Watched a couple of other planes land on 25 but then me and all my fellow nerds were moved on by the Police. We had to wait outside the flashing lights on the road either side of the end of the runway. Then it came into land on 07 so the view wasn't amazing.

Still very glad I went to see it once in my life at least, it's bloody big in the flesh.

Here's my not so great video taken on my phone......
