Hi all,

I needed for work a router that I wanted to give one of our machines some "internet" so the manufacturers of said machine can dial into it and fix our problem.
Like a remote "dial in" so manufacture can help us identify a program fault on our machines.

We have one of these in another piece of machinery
https://teltonika-networks.com/product/rut955/

.

It works well, because it came already fitted from the machine manufacturer.

So I thought I will buy one, and stick it into this other machine, hoping for remote interrogation of faults in the program.
It duly arrived, and I took my Voda sim out my phone, popped it into the SIM1 tray.
set up the 2 data aerials, plugged it into some power, plugged ethernet lead into laptop and into the LAN 1

.

192.168.1.1
Admin/Admin01
User and PW.
I can see all the details on the routers 192.168.1.1, and I can see full 4 bars of data signal strength, so RUT955 can see the 4 green signal strength bars.
But I was expecting the laptop then to be able to search out Google internet or any internet, but unfortunately not.
I am stuck.

Any advice please ?

What IP address have you set on your PC ?
And are you using the routers address as your default gateway ?

Also have you changed the default password ? I've never used on of these - but there is a note on the first page of the manual saying that the UI is locked out if the password isnt changed ... and im wondering if anything else is locked.

How much were these ? As if it works I've got a use for one !

Some 4G routers will automatically configure the "APN" details for you, but many don't. I suspect you may need to manually enter the Vodafone APN config somewhere.

Its a decent router we have loads of these installed on fixed IP SIMs. You usually have the option to configure via the Wizard but can access all the settings via the menus.

Network - Mobile
Have you set the APN settings for Voda? Usually an option for Auto but I've never tried it as we use fixed IPs.
- On the main login page can you see an IP address listed in the WAN section?
- WAN failover satus. Ensure this is set to disable with the default as Mobile. You can see the status on the main menu page.

Network - LAN
- Enable DHCP but make the starting IP say 192.168.1.10 When you then next configure a wireless network below the router will assign you an IP address from .10 upwards

Network - Wireless
Setup a Wireless network with a password

Once it reboots you can then disconnect the Cat5 and connect via wireless which forces your PC to use the gateway on the router and not be confused by any wifi netowrks your pc is connected to while using the Cat5.

Hi Jollysoutherner.
Thank you so much for replying.
Great to hear you have seen these babies before.

Have you set the APN settings for Voda? = I think this is my first hurdle.
On the main login page can you see an IP address listed in the WAN section? = I will bring it home tomorrow, just so manic in work
