Hi guys,

not my place of course, but rather than putting 56k warnings why not post smaller photos, or if there are loads, link to a gallery or index page. Its annoying if you are trying to scroll down and the page keeps jumping as another image loads, and must be hell for those who are still on dial up.

Most people here have photoshop and can resize and compress their images. Please use it!

Matt :)

on the other side of the coin, some of us like to see a page full of images which we can scroll down rather than thumbnails.

I will agree however that seeing a page jump gets on my goat as well!

I never get to see a whole page (unless I leave it to load overmight). Downloaded an 11.5 mb file today, took 3 hours.

Two paper cups and some string - guess it's what we pay for living in the middle of nowhere.

BT promise satellite ADSL by winter.

Yea right.

Being on 56k myself (only use internet at weekend), I've started turning my images off or only loading each image as I want to view it. It just takes too long to load a page of images and it stops the rest of the page loading. But I do understand im in the minority here though

Cheers

That's what the warning is for...if you can't stand the agro, don't open the thread.

Martin.

Personally I love a page of full size images! (hence I hate the PH re-sizer, maybe Ted could code it to resize dynamically, depending on the viewers resolution as I think it limits at 650 pixels wide which looks a tad small on my 1600 pixel wide display.)

But then I am rather lazy and clicking on thumbnails is a pain I don't usually bother to endure.

Which is all very well if you have a gallery / website to show your pics. The 56k warning is there for that very reason, and personally I like seeing the page of pics - just open the thread in a seprate windows, wait for load, then browse till your hearts content. FWIW I already resize all my images to 750 pixels max length to avoid the dreaded PH compression.
So you can expect & look forward to more 56k warnings from me in the future
