OK, I confess that when I saw the trailer, I thought it was a male comedian doing an impression of Ann Robinson, for comedic effect.

On the other hand, she is in her late 70s, honest about her plastic surgery and undoubtedly a self-created caricature, made for TV.

That said, I think she will bring something to the show that it lacked, even if males are increasing disappearing from the screen.

She appears to have had so much cosmetic surgery that she can no longer emote nor enunciate.

It's really distracting - like a reanimated corpse or a replica android. Firmly in the uncanny valley and talking through someone else's teeth.

I watched today's episode and it was just weird.

She looks about 50 but her voice and demeanor suggest someone twice that age.

The Anne Droid from Dr Who is now a reality.

I was more concerned about the standard of the contestants today. Two of the numbers games were really simple and neither of them got them

As for Anne Robinson - it's like an animatronic. Nothing seems to move

I’m not sure if she was being friendly or sarcastic saying “well done”, when they got the numbers right.
It was something like 591, with a 100, 6, and a 9!

Oh dear!
I haven't watched Countdown for a while. She really is dire
Everything she utters is stilted and contrived. The sooner they pension her off, the better.

While she’s nowhere near as bad as I thought she’d be, she’s just not right for the programme.

I thought that she just needed time to settle in, but she's been there weeks now, and she's still hopeless.

They should have given it to Colin Murray who was great as the stand-in presenter...

As well as all the cosmetic surgery she has had a charisma transplant, no personality and just makes the program clunky

...aaaaand she's gone. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind. I think much longer and they might have started considering the future of the programme.

Who next? Colin Murray? Carol Vorderman? Rev Richard Coles? Nobody, just let Rachel Riley and Susie Dent run the show?

Thank god she is going. You can sense the tension on set between her and Rachel and all fun and enjoyment the show once had has totally evaporated.

Can’t stand Colin Murray he ruins every Tv show he presents - darts, snooker etc etc.

They’ll probably choose that short fat and unfunny women who quit the Bake Off.

Jimmy Carr, he's got the experience.

Thank goodness - an interesting experiment that failed.

i.e. the powers that be at Channel 4 obviously felt that appointing an older woman into the role was what the program needed to try - but the wooden one they chose couldn't have been more wrong for it..... Did they really not do a screen test before signing it off?

If they do have demographic requirements for the role, I could imagine someone like Prue Leith being a good fit however.

Delighted she's gone as her abrasive style occasionally made for uncomfortable viewing.

I believe the program needs a male presenter as a counterpoint to Rachel and Susie and someone who is not intent on being the 'star' performer?

Would Trevor McDonald fit the bill??

I hope someone said to her "You are the weakest link, good bye".

Great news, but they should just give it to him permanently. He understands his role in the show, i.e. make a few jokes, keep the contestants at ease and fill the gaps.

I couldn't warm to Ann Robinson and honestly can't work out why she got the job but I guess their typical audience isn't me so she must appeal to someone.

I think Murray will be a fine replacement as he was when he stood in before whether it's permanent or temporary this time.
