Just finding out which insurers you guys are using. My Classicline renewal has gone up to just shy of £400 for a 4.5 cerb, garaged and 3k miles pa. 20% increase year on year.

I mentioned this the other day on ‘General’… The comparison sites are doing classics now.

I used confused.com this year.

Yes, it threw me when I got a very low quote for insurance (it was Lancaster) using the meerkat.

I was stumped a bit until I realised that running the search with no NCD selected returned the same result at the top, .i.e. limited mileage 'classic' policy. smile Leaves the NCD clear for another car.

Are the comparison sites insuring modified cars, you know the usual ecu, induction, suspension and wheels etc.

I can’t recall, mine’s pretty standard.

Worth noting, that it just puts you in touch and lists prices with the brokers. It sent me to Grove And Dean.

The actual insurer (KVM) was one that the normal suspects put me through.

I had to supply a couple of photos of the car in the garage, and the garage relative to my property.

And if you’re going for agreed value, they’ll need various pictures of the car.

Seemed reasonable enough, £262 with breakdown cover/home start.

Edit… With the above broker, you do have to list the mods.

Meerkat threw up Lancaster for £198 a year, I was happily surprised by that.

That's 3k per annum, no NCD used, garaged.

AIB have been good for me, for a couple of years now. All 3 of my cars are with them.

If it’s any consolation, I pay more than 4x what most people are paying.
Ultra low crime zone, garaged, summer use only (2000 miles per year). And “agreed value” ? You must be joking.

You guys have it good in Blighty!

Really pleased with FJ

They have just issued me with duplicate Green Cards, one for each car for each trip (as I never know which car will be working)

Another vote for Footman James. I have a multicar policy with them. 7 cars, mostly modified, two on agreed value, two drivers, commuting on everything and unlimited mileage on everything. £550.
