Strange thing my dynamo works well and charges my battery. Still my battery light goes on. Could it be the diode? Is battery light connected to dynamo or direct to battery. It seems like direct from battery. So why goes my battery light on when generator is working ok 14 amp. Thanks

The no charge warning light is connected between the alternator output, and the switched ignition circuit. It comes on when there is a voltage difference between these two. For example when the ignition is on with the engine stopped, or when you switch the ignition off (just briefly, while the engine spins down).

Is it coming on brightly or just glowing a bit? If it's just glowing abit, the most likely explanation is that the switched ignition circuit is running at a lower voltage than the alternator is putting out. This can happen due to a dodgy connector between the ignition switch and the vehicle loom.

It is glooming bright. What can be wrong when generator is working properly?

This is not quite true, the led is connected to the 'exciter' lead which 'kick starts' the alt when firing up. It seems that this only ever reads 12v even when the alt is putting out 14v!!! At a 2v diff the charge led glows... Not sure if TVR screwed up the circuit (works fine with a normal bulb as used in LR instead of a led) or if its related to the resistor accross the led (I assume to ensure alt gets field coils started if bulb fails).

Never really fixed on mine, will get round to it one day.
