Namely the winged heels one.

F*****g t***s.

Waiting for a a parcel that has been delayed in shipping, it's a birthday present for my brother.

Finally got a notification from the company that I bought from that it has shipped and an email from the winged heels that they have my parcel

Email yesterday that it will be delivered today. Email this morning between 1 and 3pm today, then an email that the courier is delayed and will be delivered between 2 and 4pm.

Email at 15:24 saying they were unable to deliver as I wasn't in and no safe place.

I have been in all afternoon waiting for this, I can see my front door from where I am sitting so NO attempt has been made to deliver. As always, it's impossible to contact them.

It's also impossible to contact the seller.

F***s sake how do these companies still operate, so many stories like this, first time I have had any issues.

Guess I will be going to my brother's empty handed this evening

Very frustrating

The sad truth no one is willing to pay the price of a proper delivery service, we all say we are but we probably won’t

I’d like to see Royal Mail lockers taking off

Big walls of them dotted about, proper secure lobby / cctv to make collection any time of day safe.

Royal mail will redeliver on a day of your choice to your house or the local post office for free, and have now extended the hours the local delivery offices are open, You can also get a notification sent to the posties pda where you would like the parcel delivering if you are not in if you use the tracked delivery option ( ie no 36/in the shed/behind the bin etc)

Indeed.

I get it that things happen, vehicle breakdowns etc. A simple 'due to unforeseen circumstances your delivery will not take place today' email would suffice. It's the blatent lie that frustrates me more.

I've just left my job. I've got to return two laptops and two mobile phones (it's too dull to explain why).

Both sets were supposed to be picked up on Friday afternoon.

DPD were supposed to provide a box for one set, presumably labelled. Bloke turns up, asks where my box is. I point out that he's supposed to provide the box as I don't have a destination address. He gets angry and reschedules for Saturday. Doesn't turn up. DPD regularly used to lose stuff we had collected by them. I wouldn't trust them.

No idea who was supposed to collect the other set.

I've just emailed my old boss to check it's ok to drop them off at one of the company offices.

If they just emailed me an address label I could have taken them to a Post Office in my own time.

Couriers seem to be in a race to the bottom.

Im guessing the driver was given too many deliveries to do, and couldn't keep up, so pretended to have tried to deliver so he didn't get sacked. I imagine they overload the drivers with too many drops that they just can't achieve.

IIRC they have to hit targets each day and that means failing to deliver because "you were out" for a number of items. I bet a GPS tracker would show they don't get within a mile of your house though.....

Unfortunately you dont get a 'ive run out of time' option on your pda so if they genuinely have run out of working hours you have to select the nearest to option which is generally 'road impassable' etc.

My amazon had an update "undeliverable" due to a problem with parcel etc and I will be refunded in 7 days time.

Popped on another website and ordered the same item. Should have waited. Arrived 1 hour later.. and my amazon automatically updated to delivered. Luckily could cancel my new order.

I regularly order bike stuff from Wiggle, and have paid £10 for their unlimited next day delivery for a whole year. Won't be repeating as they use one of the worst companies (they had a car in GTA Vice City named after them which the Cuban gangsters drove, and it's also the name of a very fancy version of the original Apple Watch). Wiggle dispatched within an hour of my payment confirmation, so no complaints there.

The day it was meant to arrive the delivery company emailed to say it would be late due to a "major event". I can only guess it's because they actually delivered something on time that day and the CEO almost died of a heart attack as a result?

The next day I receive an email saying parcel "successfully delivered". Plus a picture of a plant in my front garden. Checked the Ring camera and the chap barely got halfway up my drive, and threw my parcel at the bush next to the door. A proper quality service indeed...

middle of yesterday afternoon a DPD van appeared in my gateway, I wandered up to see if he had a parcel for me. Indeed he had, but he couldnt deliver it for another 5 minutes as he was early. I went back to some hedgeclipping.

five minutes ticked away and he got out of his van and gave me the parcel.

seemed a bizarre thing to do but I am not a courier company

DPD offer an hour window for each delivery (potentially hundreds of deliveries on each van)

They calculate the travel and drop time for each delivery to calculate the delivery window.

If he's early for you, he'll be early for the next one and the next one and so on. This means less likelihood of people being at home, as they're expecting it in their 1 hour window.

about 40 years ago Royal Mail (or post office) had a service called Datapost which was guaranteed next day delivery anywhere (by 10am I think).

This was pre internet era and we were sending out magnetic tapes daily which had critical and perishable data on them and the unique feature of datapost was the consequential loss guarantee. You just had to show that because of the late delivery you had suffered and they coughed up. we claimed a couple of times and they paid up no problem.

We still do, it changed its name to special delivery (9am) or (1pm)
