About to upgrade my 2016 X1 to a new X3.

I’ve been offered a good deal on a brand new 2021 X3 M Sport 2.0d but am wondering if the updates to drivetrain and tech in the new facelift model are worth paying more for and waiting a while longer for?

Anyone know how big an update the sat nav and tech will be in the facelift model?

Dealer is telling me that if I order a new 2022 car, there are lots of options which are currently unavailable due to the global semiconductor shortages. Things like Harmon Kardon are not possible to spec.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

If it was me I would buy the used 21 model car.

It will have taken a big hit value wise plus you will be able to get one with the options you want such as HK. I also read that wireless charging wasn't currently being fitted due to material shortages.

The 21 model X3 are built to a nice spec anyway so not sure what os better about the 22 model?

Go for the 2021 model. Dad bought one and it is fantastic, luckily got it before the semiconductor shortage.

I’ve just ordered a new 5 series, no wireless charging or keyless entry available at the moment.

I’ve found a current model X3 3.0d and gone for it.

Harmon Kardon and wireless charging are deleted but everything else is apparently still ok.

Found one with M Sport Pro, Comfort PLUS pack and Technology pack, so very excited.

I just hope the standard sound system is ok!??

You'll love the 3.0 smile My wife has a G01 3.0 and it's a great car. It's much smoother and quieter than the F31 335d.

If you've seen the used car market at the moment you'd have noticed that hardly depreciation has happened on 2021 cars, it's often cheaper to order a new car than buy a 3-6 month old one at the moment.

You’re absolutely right. I’ve been amazed at deals I’ve been offered on the new LCI model which make a new model almost the same price as the old outgoing model. And then there are 6 month old cars that aren’t much cheaper than those!

I’m about to order a new LCI 3.0d.

Just waiting to hear which options aren’t available, although it seems to be changing all the time, so could change for better or worse when it comes to actual build time.

I think the new LCI will be lovely the B57 3.0d is a great engine as well, I had a an X3MC and that was great, I've just ordered a new 7 series and deals are good especially when you factor in what your current car is worth.
