No it's not. This isn't an excuse but it looks like low level dickery, rather than a planned act of violence But it's completely out of order and must have been very worrying/ scary for the guy. He isn't a young chap being I think mid 50's and its simply not acceptable for anyone to do this to someone else.
I hope the book is thrown at this bunch of lads. Yet another example of the unpleasantness that exists on social media.
"hey lets film us doing this n that" etc

It’s disgusting behaviour. Absolutely horrific and supported by public figures who stoke anger under the guise of “debate” when they have no interest in real engagement.
The behaviour of some sections of society over the past 4-5 years has got very worrying. There has always been violent, angry and obnoxious people but the recent activities around attacking science, intellectual and experts, undermining democracy and civil society is reminiscent of the 1920’s.

Usual increasing self entitlement issues driven by'soschal meedja' morons from a group of pissed up Chavs desperate for attention and excitement to lift their sad lives and thinking they can do what they want.
Plod extremely unlikely to take any action so it will be an obvious green light to other Chav Bros and their ilk and clearly now escalate further.

Remember that Whitty and his mates have destroyed or damaged millions of peoples lives.
Had they taken a more balanced approach, there might be a few less people wanting to see their heads on spikes.
People will only get more angry as the economic pain starts to bite when the government cash is turned off.
I’m not saying he deserves the abuse, but the peoples lives he has wrecked are more deserving of sympathy IMO.

He's done nothing of the sort. He's provided scientific medical and epidemiological advice to the Gov. It's the job of the government to take this advice and balance it against the economic factors.

On the economic front the dominos are starting to fall, but still a while yet before most people realise what those in charge have done.
The people who deserve the sympathy are those whose lives have been wrecked by the lockdown cheerleaders.

Do you understand what his role was? Had they taken a more balanced approach, there might be a few less people wanting to see their heads on spikes.

He did was he was supposed to do: relay the scientific position on the virus to the Government. Even when the scientific position was really bad news.

This thread is about harassment of Chris Witty, which was unacceptable.
There is another thread for discussing Covid mitigation measure impacts.

The scientific advice was overwhelmingly wrong as a hundred incorrect models show. He did was he was supposed to do: relay the scientific position on the virus to the Government. Even when the scientific position was really bad news.
The scientific advice was overly focussed on Covid and not other harms, including medical ones.
The fact is if you give terrible advice that harms millions of people there have to be consequences. I’d rather it was through the courts rather than abuse in the street, but it’s naive in the extreme to expect otherwise

Scientists must not be harassed.

If only they'd consulted you then. Dammit we could have avoided all this. The scientific advice was overly focussed on Covid and not other harms, including medical ones.
