Video capture with Iomega quik touch DVD burner
Discussion
I bought a Iomega external DVD writer which has a capture card built in. Idea being, you plug in a video signal direct to the unit (has 3 composite video phono type sockets and S-video socket) and plug the unit into the laptop via USB. Software then allows you to capture to a file, mess around and burn to DVD.
Now it seems to work OK when plugging in a digital camcorder (not that I need it to, I use firewire to the laptop for that) but it won't pick up a signal when using S-video via a scart to S-video cable, or when using composite video via a composite to scart adaptor plug that came with the camcorder.
Any ideas? Perhaps my adaptors only work in one direction, i.e. perhaps the scart to composite adaptor only uses the pins appropriate to sending video from composite into scart (for viewing camcorder footage on TV) but not for the reverse?
The lights on the DVD unit flash ("video" or "s-video" as appropriate) to say it is receiving a signal, but the software (Sonic MyDVD) says no video signal is present.
Any help appreciated..
