Selling to Evans Halshaw
Discussion
No connection with EH but credit where it's due. Been checking the prices for my Cooper S and EH were consistently above WBAC by £1.5 to £2k. Honestly couldn't believe they would pay it though.
Online valuation was c£15.6k but I messed up my appointment and turned up a day late. Agreed I'd come back at 3pm, but decided to book another appointment as well. This generated a revised valuation of £15.9k.
Went to the appointment, car was reversed out of the space and some pictures taken. These were then sent to Head Office and ten minutes later, £15.9k was agreed.
Paperwork filled in, car dropped in a few days later, and payment into the bank - albeit a day late as finance failed to process it till 16.30 the next day. Still, car handed over on a Sunday with payment on Tuesday was fine with me.
Admittedly, my car was in great condition with only one alloy scuff, and definitely fitted into their 'excellent' category. The guy even commented how perfect it was.
With the way prices are rising though I'd definitely recommend them as an alternative to WBAC etc.

Just checked my car
£500 more than WBAC - £300 less than Motorway
I just used the Motorway site photo upload, we'll see whether they stand by the valuation then
I was tempted to go the Motorway / Wizzle route, but liked the idea of getting an immediate valuation and if happy, simply handing the car over. £500 more than WBAC - £300 less than Motorway

I do wonder if I could have got more, but I'd ordered a new car on the basis I'd get £10k for my current one. £6k more was a nice enough bonus!

The Motorway valuation is a guide price, you can choose what you set your reserve at. I’ve just sold through them and achieved £1k more than the guide price. Was very happy with that. £500 more than WBAC - £300 less than Motorway

I'll have to look again then
I got the impression they just offer the car to a number of dealers and that was that - granted I did the whole thing on my phone though
I suspect the general theme is going to be that WBAC, EH, Motorway, Wizzle etc are all pretty good options at the moment. Some will pay more than others and which is the best option will vary from car to car.
I suppose a private sale should, in theory, generate a bit more, but tight margins mean I'm not sure it's worth it.
Crazy times really. £1194 depreciation over 27 months on my MINI. I doubt I'll ever own a 'cheaper' car!

Valuation lapsed and updated £500 higher though!

Just checked the account and no mention of a reserve?

They’ll probably call you tomorrow to go through it all, that’s what happened with me. They said I could change the reserve price (their estimate) if I wanted to. I moved it up slightly to match the increased WBAC offer (minus the £75 fee). Valuation lapsed and updated £500 higher though!

Ah - OK cheers - I'll expect the call then
My mate sold his 68 plate Kuga ST to the the other week, they paid pretty much the same as what he bought it for 18 months ago.
He had some knocks on it and they paid Excellent, when the lady in the hut rang her boss he said that they couldn't get enough of these and to pay the full price.
It seems depending on what they want at the time I guess.
