It does look like it's sitting down, trying to conceal the fact that it's just seen an attractive lady MGB across the room.

Looked at another way: given how far the bonnet has been deformed it's a wonder the shutline to the grille looks as good as it does.

Very odd, looks like it is double skinned for most of it, look at the photo from the underneath of the bonnet.

I reckon he cut a hole in the bonnet and then welded "the marquee" over the top, always worries me when you see "ex-engineer" in any description.

A neighbour had a Costello in the seventies, and from memory the bonnet was fibreglass, not metal.

Could be. I’ve only ever seen them with the bonnet shut, and have resisted the temptation to tap it to see whether or not it’s tin
